En de priester zal de plaag in het vel des vleses bezien; zo het haar in die plaag in wit veranderd is, en het aanzien der plaag dieper is dan het vel zijns vleses, het is de plaag der melaatsheid; als de priester hem bezien zal hebben, dan zal hij hem onrein verklaren.

Daarop moet de priester de aangetaste plek op de huid van het lichaam bezien. Als het haar op de aangetaste plek wit geworden is, en de aangetaste plek zichtbaar dieper ligt dan de huid van zijn lichaam, dan is het de ziekte van de melaatsheid. Als de priester hem bezien heeft, dan moet hij hem onrein verklaren.
